50 FAQ on Residential Solar Systems is on its way

Dec 23, 2023 by Ian Gildenhuys
  1. Introduction:

During the 2023 Easter holidays, a very good friend of mine and his wife came to visit us. He is an experienced solar system installer. While we discussed my writing career and what I had in mind with the Grasp Knowledge Series, he asked me why I did not start the series with a book on Residential Solar Systems.

My friend emphasised the need for reliable and accessible information to educate potential clients, contemplating having a solar system installed at their home. He said they should preferably study the information before they start calling in a Solar provider or installer for quotations.

He further felt that being equipped with the knowledge of what solar power is and what a residential solar system comprises as well as having the answers to the most frequently asked questions on the subject, would make life much easier for the potential solar system owner as well as the solar system installer. The installer receiving the relevant details from an informed client will enable him to design and supply the client with the most suitable and sufficient residential solar system for their requirements.

  1. Why the need for solar systems?

There is a worldwide increase in interest in renewable energy in general and solar systems specifically, which is probably due to Solar’s diverse advantages.

Solar power is a form of renewable energy that harnesses the sun’s rays to generate electricity or heat. It is a clean, sustainable and reliable source of power that offers numerous benefits for homeowners.

One of the key advantages of solar is its environmental friendliness. Unlike fossil fuels, solar power does not produce harmful greenhouse gas emissions or contribute to air pollution. By installing solar panels on your home, you can significantly reduce your carbon footprint and help combat climate change.

Further advantages of using solar power are that it reduces your electricity bill, it reduces your reliability on the centralised power grids, it is reliable and durable, they have low maintenance requirements, it can provide energy access in remote and underserved areas and it can improve the value of your home.

4. Why this book?

As the name suggests 50 Frequently Asked Questions about Residential Solar Systems is about the most regularly asked questions on the subject. The information supplied would cover among others:
